Thomas Walter Grant  (1930 ~ 2009)

 

7.10. Tenth child of Peter Glowaski and Martha Strychalski, Thomas Walter Grant (né Glowaski), was born April 28, 1930, in Oshawa, Ontario.  

  He married Maryanne Oley, daughter of Harold Ernest Oley and Elsie Olive Matthews, March 4, 1950, in Oshawa, Ontario and had four children:

  • (7.10.2)  Diane Marie  (1957 ~ )

  • (7.10.3)  Janet Mary  (1961 ~ )

  • (7.10.4)  Paul Harold  (1967 ~ )

 

  Thomas W. Grant died July 2, 2009, aged 79 years in Oshawa, Ontario and is interred at Thornton Cemetery.

Glowaski—Oley

The marriage of Maryanne Oley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Oley, and Thomas Glowaski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Glowaski, all of Oshawa, was solemnized at St. George’s Anglican Church on Saturday afternoon with Rev. D. M. Rose officiating.

  White narcissi and daffodils decorated the church. The wedding music was played by Mr. Leon Nash and with Miss Kay Elston as soloist.

  Given in marriage by her father, the bride was gowned in white satin witha flowing veil and carried red and white roses.

  Her only attendant was her sister, Miss Dianne Oley, who was in pink taffeta with a flowered headdress. Her bouquet was roses, carnations and sweet peas.

  The best man was Mr. Michael Glowaski and the ushers were Mr. Thomas Murphy and Mr. Stanley Boyar.

For the reception held in the Blue Room at the Genosha Hotel, the bride’s mother wore navy blue with grey accessories. The bridegroom’s mother was in black and white. Both wore corsages of red carnations.

  For the wedding trip to points west, the bride chose a grey suit with navy blue accessories and a corsage of sweetheart roses.

Thomas W. Grant

April 28, 1930 ~ July 2, 2009

Farewell Thomas, His Legacy....Thomas Walter Grant beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was truly a family man. His enjoyment was spending time with his close family. Tom was employed as a Transport Driver for 60 years. He would tell you it wasn’t work. He continued to work until he took ill. His Family....Tom was born on April 28, 1930 in Oshawa. He is a loving husband to Maryanne (nee Oley) for 59 years, and a devoted father to Tim (Dorie), Diane Hayes (Kevin), Janet Bodnaryk (Bill) and Paul (Rosalind). Tom and Maryanne have fourteen grandchildren. Tom took ill in April and was defeated on July 2, 2009. His strength gave his family extra time and many memories to cherish. He touched many lives. His Farewell....Tom was laid to rest on July 6, 2009 at Thornton Cemetery. He will be truly missed. Memorial donations to the Sick Children’s Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Thomas Michael Timothy Grant  (1951 ~ )

 

7.10.1. First child of Thomas Grant and Maryanne Oley, Thomas Michael Timothy Grant (né Glowaski), was born January 13, 1951, in Oshawa, Ontario.  

  He married Anita 'Gail' Adams, daughter of Ross Alymer Adams and Margaret Eva Alsford, September 18, 1971, in Oshawa, Ontario and had three children:

  • (7.10.1.2)  Rhonda Margaret Anne  (1977 ~ )  ~ Twins

  • (7.10.1.3)  Ryan Terry Paul  (1977 ~ )

 

  Thomas M. Grant currently resides in Millbrook, Ontario.

GLOWASKI—Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Glowaski (nee Maryanne Oley), are happy to announce the birth of their son, Thomas Michael, on Saturday, January 13, 1951, at the Oshawa General Hospital. Baby 7 lbs., 9 oz. Oshawa Daily Times-Gazette, Jan. 15, 1951.

Grant—Adams

Harmony United Church, Oshawa, enhanced with beautiful arrangements of white and yellow ‘mums was the setting for the marriage of Saturday afternoon, September 18, 1971 at 3:30 o’clock of Miss Gail Adams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Adams, and Mr. Thomas Grant, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Grant, all of Oshawa.

  Rev. H. A. Mellow was the officiating clergyman and the wedding music was played by Mrs. M. Taylor.

  Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white, formal length gown with skirt of georgette over white polyester crepe, and bodice of French lace. The long georgette sleeves were accented by insets of the French lace, and her floor-length georgette veil was caught to a headpiece of georgette petals. She carried a bridal bouquet of flame roses and white ‘mums with baby’s breath.

  Miss Lynn Adams of Bowmanville was maid of honor and the bridesmaids were Miss Roslyn Adams, sister of the bride, Miss Diane Grant and Miss Janet Grant, sisters of the bridegroom. Miss Tracy Adams, also a sister of the bride, was flower girl. The maid of honor and her bridesmaids were gowned alike in floor-length dresses of flame polyester crepe, with the back waistline, accentuated by a self-material bow. A long frock of white chiffon, floral printed in shades of flame and green, was worn by the flower girl. All wore matching flowers in their coiffeurs and their bouquets were of yellow, white and flame ‘mums with baby’s breath.

  Mr. Patrick Mothersill was best man, and ushering were Mr. Terry Adams, brother of the bride, Mr. Danny Omelanchuk and Mr. David Omelanchuk.

  A reception was held at the Oshawa Credit Union Hall where guests were received by the bride’s mother who wore a long gown of cream and light brown chiffon over taffeta with corsage of orange baby ‘mums. She was assisted in receiving by the groom’s mother who wore a formal length gown of blue crepe trimmed with seed pearls, pearl tiara and corsage of matching blue baby ‘mums.

  As the happy couple left on their wedding trip to Niagara Falls, the bride was wearing a brown dress with coat shades of beige, white and orange, and matching accessories. A corsage of orange rosebuds complemented her travelling ensemble. Mr. and Mrs. Grant are residing at 598 Carlyle Court, Oshawa.

  A hairdresser, the bride attended Lord Elgin and Central Public Schools in Bowmanville, and Donevan and Eastdale Collegiates in Oshawa. The groom attended Donevan and Eastdale Collegiates and is an employee of Bell Canada. Bowmanville Statesman, Oct. 27, 1971.
